When setting up assessment processes and data sources, an Account Admin needs to create new users and add them to these resources. If creating a new user, this includes setting the new user's role (Process Manager or Labeller).

Adding users to an Assessment Process

Adding users to an Assessment Process can only be done by an Account Admin or a Process Manager.


As an Account Admin, create a new Assessment Process or navigate to an existing Process. As a Process Manager, navigate to an existing Process. Got to the Admin tab and you will see a panel entitled 'Permissions'. Here you can choose to either add an existing user to the  Process, or create a new user and add them to the Process.

Add an existing user

If the user already exists in Highlighter, select them from the dropdown then click the 'Add' button. You will see them appear in the table above with their role. Note, Account Admins do not appear in the dropdowns because they can already access all resources.

Create a new user and adding to an Assessment Process

To create a new user, enter their details in the form including display name, email and choose a role from the dropdown. Users can be added to processes as Process Manager or Labeller. Once you click the 'Create' button, they will appear in the table above with their corresponding role. Also, an email will be sent to the user inviting them to Highlighter. Clicking the link in that email will take them to Highlighter where they set a password. They will then be logged into Highlighter and can start using the system.

Capabilities of users added to Processes

Users can be added to processes with the role Process Manager or Labeller.

Process Managers added to a process in Highlighter have the ability to view and use the process. This includes:

As an Account Admin, create a new data source or navigate to an existing data source. As a Process Manager, navigate to an existing data source. Similar to the process page, in the right sidebar you will see a panel entitled 'Permissions'. Here you can choose to either add an existing user to the data source, or create a new user and add them to the data source.
