Video Labelling tool Second Screen


  • Maximise the screen space for the video playback by activating the Second Screen (see link in the Object and Assessment panel - this moves the Edit Attribute panel to second tab) and by minimising the Object and Assessment panel 

  • Colour guide for detections (boxes around objects):

    • Unlabeled = White dashed line

    • Selected = Red dashed line

    • Selected and labelled - Red solid line

    • Similar = Yellow dashed line

    • Labelled = Green solid line 

  • Show more or lease of the timeline in the tracking panel by selecting a FPP (Frames Per Pixel) setting (top left of the tracking panel):

    • 1FPP (this is the most detailed view)

  • 2FPP

  • Fit (shows the whole timeline - note some small tracks may not be visible in this view)

  • Space bar plays and pauses the video. Note: for best performance do not manually scrub through the video when the video is playing. First pause the video and then scrub.

  • Play the video at different speeds by clicking on the video speed number at the left of the video timeline

  • To put a marker on the video timeline:

    • m - adds a mark at current frame

    • M - removes mark nearest to current frame

    • [  - seek to nearest mark to the left of current frame

    • ] - seek to nearest mark to the right of current frame

  • In the Attribute Edit list - type the first letter of the taxonomy to bring that up. Note Admin users will be able to edit the information that the Attribute Edit list is able to display

  • “d” resizes video to fit width of screen area (move the track panel or reduce the size of the video if needed). Or click use the resize video icon in the toolbar  

  • Use the All video Similarity Pop up box  feature to label all objects in the video that match a selected annotation:

    • Click on an annotation

    • Type in “b” or click on the icon in the toolbar

    • Select All or shift select individual tracks that match the object you are labeling

    • Assign a taxonomy by clicking on the Attribute Edit and selecting a taxonomy then clicking on Update

  • Use the Point in the video Similarity track and video view feature to label all objects in the video that match a selected annotation:

    • Click on an annotation

    • Type in “n” on the icon in the toolbar

    • Type “Control a” to select all. Or shift select each object with a bounding box that you want to label

    • In the tracking panel or video, keep all selected or de-select or add individual object that match the taxonomy you are labelling

    • Assign a taxonomy by clicking on the Attribute Edit and selecting a taxonomy then clicking on Update

    • Note: 

      • Escape will deselect an object and stay in N mode

      • “Shift n” to exit N mode 

  • Label an individual object: 

    • Draw a bounding box around an unlabeled object and assign it’s taxonomy via the Attribute Edit box bottom left of the site

    • Assign or change a taxonomy for an object that already has a bounding box by selecting the box and using the Attribute Edit box bottom left of the site

  • Clone the label of an object and apply it to other object: 

    • Select the object to be cloned

    • Select the clone tool

    • Click on the object the clone is to be applied to. (If you hold down shift while you click on the object it will also keep that object selected)

    • Note any object that has the clone applied to will automatically be added to the Assessment panel and MaxN candidates

  • Copy the taxonomy and apply it to another object

    • Select the Copy Taxon tool

    • Go to the second screen and choose the Taxon from the Taxonomy list that you want to copy (you can use the Filter box in that list to search for a Taxonomy)

    • Click on the bounding box of any object you want to copy that Taxonomy to

    • Note: any Taxonomy you choose will go to the top of the Taxonomy list so you will have at the top of the list the recent Taxonomies applied

  • Change the label of an object:

    • Select the object to be labelled at the frame you want and open the Attribute Edit box, click on Clear All,  then assign a label and click on the Attribute Edit box Update 

    • You can also select multiple detections in the assessment panel by holding shift and clicking the time section of a row, then change attributes for all of them via the Attribute Edit box

  • Search/filter the video for labelled object:

    • In the filter box type in “display_name:” and the name of the object you want to find

Or

  • Click on the name of the object in the MaxN view

 To clear the search delete what is in the Filter field and click on Filter

  • You can undo the following actions using the Edit/Undo or the shortcut ctrl+z:

    • Create or deletes a bounding box or measurements

    • Ascribe or change a attribute via the Attribute Edit box or the Clone tool

    • Delete or edit a track


  • Join multiple tracks by selecting the tracks and detections to join, then pressing the "a" key
